I know there are alot of different languages to learn out there but I need some recommendations on something to try and learn. I only have a small amount of knowledge in Visual Basic. And that was version 4.0. Should I stick with that or go for something else? BTW what version of VB is out now?
Any suggestions are appreciated.

C/C++ are probably the best to learn some about. But if you never actually want to be a programmer, VB will keep you happy.

If you want to make money, go for C++. You can get a job if you know VB or html that kind of stuff but the money is with C++. If you want a job try to learn it, although it takes a while if you are going to teach it to yourself. I would say definitely take classes, but I think I just lucked out because first semester c++ instructor was cool as hell, and my second semester instructor was smart as hell, I learned a bunch of stuff other instructors never even mentioned.
