Another problem with SATA Card (different computer though)

I am having a problem installing the Promise TX2plus SATA PCI Card into my old computer. I got it to show up during startup, but the hard drive attached to it wouldn't show up in windows. It might be because I have a lot of cards in this computer.

AMD 1ghz CPU
768 RAM
Adaptec SCSI Card
Firewire Card
Ethernet Card
Video Card
Sound Card

And now I want to add this Promise Card. At one point it said "PCI Card in Slot 2 Share IRQ with Promise IDE Controller"
Hopefully that can help solve the problem? I tried changing the cards around in different PCI slots, but that didn't work. Do I have to change things in the Bios?

We need to know what motherboard you have, also in many cases a Scsi card and an additional HDD controler card will not operate in the same system due to bios limitations.

I'm downloading the manuel for your motherboard from Asus's site and I'll take a look, but I'd guess you have a resource sharing issue that's preventing the drive from showing up correctly and you may need to move cards around to get it to work, based on what your saying the bioes sees both the Scsi card and SATA card and they both rec. their drives, but in windows disk managment utility you can't see your SATA HDD? if thats correct let me know.

Ok check page 32 of your motherboard manuel (or download it directly from Asus) it shows what PCI slots share IRQ's / Init's w/ other devices / slots, you need to make sure that both the Scsi card and the SATA card are not shared, it looks like you need to put the cards in PCI slot 2 and in slot 3 and disable your onboard audio and Midi port to get this to work correctly would be my guess based on what I'm reading, give that a shot and let me know if it works. (fyi slot 2 is the only not shared slot slot 3 only shares an init / irq w/ the onboard audio / midi)

okay i tried 2 different ways just now:

SATA card in Slot 2 with SCSI in slot 3

there's a shared IRQ with the onboard Promise Controller on the motherboard. It will stay on a black screen before the Windows XP screen is supposed to show off so basically a freeze

with SCSI in Slot 2 and SATA in slot 3 it was saying insert boot disk before the XP screen is supposed to show up.

So does that mean I can't put anythin in slot 2 because of the stupid onboard Promise controller? that seems dumb.

Slot 1 has the soundcard. IRQ is shared with AGP Slot
Slot 2 is empty and shares IRQ with the ATA100 Promise controller
Slot 3 has the SCSI card and shares with onboard audio/amr
Slot 4 has Firewire card and shares with Slot 5 and onboard USB controller
Slot 5 has Ethernet card and shares with Slot 4 and onboard USB controller

Any ideas what I should try? In the Bios all the Slot IRQs are set to Auto
