Another Problem with Radeon 64 VIVO arghh!

No matter what drivers im using, 3063, 7041, 7062, 7068 etc... everytime i go to shut my computer down, it locks up right when it says "it is now safe to turn your computer off". i then restart it and it shuts down fine. then when i power back on and go to shut down, SAME THING. any suggestions?

This isn't a Radeon problem.

well it all started when i installed the radeon. my geforce gts ran fine. no problems at all

just installed the patch and still getting lockups when shutting down.

Maybe your ACPI/APM settings are mixed up?

If you changed from ACPI to APM you need to put a check in a box
where you can enable the power down feature.

Taz is right...not a problem specific to Radeon. Never read about this problem on any Radeon tech support boards and, trust me, I've read more than my share of tech. support posts trying to get my AIW to work. Ended up solving the problems myelf and now its running perfect.

It may be driver conflict though...did you completely uninstall all of the components of your GF2 driver's and did verfiy this with a search of your windows directory? nVIDIA drivers leave fragments behind sometimes...

Really, a variety of things could be causing this problem...

im going to format my HD and do a fresh install with the 7041's. ill let you know what happens

He's right, it really isn't specific to the Radeon. I've had this problem before, with Win98 (and maybe WinME). I think it has to do with your Power Management settings. Change it in the BIOS, if it's on, turn it off, and if it's off, turn it on, and then reinstall Windows. Oh, and do all the updates for Windows, like in Win98SE, there was a shut down problem, and a patch fixed it.
