Do you guys anticipate a round of price cuts across all the current i5/i7 cpus when gulftown hits retailers?

I am wondering the same thing, I wanted to pick up the i7-920 through a friend who is visiting US in a city that has microcenter but I am not sure if I should since they priced it at $229 again.

On a side note, its not the cpu prices people should be most concerned with, the ram is the more important component that is overpriced at the moment.

nope

Price increase.

Because all the current cheepo i7 stuff is being discounted already.

920 -> 930
940 -> 950
And we got introduction of the 960.

Also i think consumer 32nm i7's will roll in around june -> aug. (I THINK... dont hold me on this).

as for the i5, i dont think gulftown would affect them at all because its not even going to be available on LGA1156.

the ram is the more important component that is overpriced at the moment.

Blame it on china.. :X
about 70% (if not more) of our ram is from china.
