Ok thanks guys thats what I thought. Its down to me and one other person and we are battleing to see who won. He ended up going home, but we left the table in the exact shape it was in. Heres the cards AGAIN, different hand.

Me - Queen, 5
Him - Queen, Jack

Community

King, 10, Ace, Jack, 3

I claimed split AGAIN, because the extra jack doesnt mean a damn thing when its a straight. He got pissed off and went home 🙁 Its just really wierd that we keep having these split pot issues. Thanks again for the help.

If I was playing for money with you I would've left too... How annoying.

I am not trying to be annoying, I am just trying to follow the rules. BEST 5 CARD HAND.

Ok, humor me on this one. How was this hand played? Who was BB, and did he bet after he flopped top straight. If so, did you call or raise? How much compared to your stack? Did you have any draws besides the straight (flush draw perhaps)? I'm tyring to figure out how that hand got to the river.

Hands like that frequently get to the river when the players don't know what a split pot is. 😀

I went all in because I was on the short stack and didnt think he had the queen, after I was flushed the straight. He had the queen, but claims he has won because of his jack. I told him that jack does not matter in a straight like this because of the jack in the community cards. Hes just pissed because every time I go all-in, I manage to fight back and win, or get split pots.

He probably just can't deal with bad beats, and left because you got damned lucky. 😀

So he didn't bet the straight after he flopped it? Sounds like it's his own damn fault for letting you see free cards to beat or tie him. If i was in his place, I would have been all-in on that flop immediately. If you're playing a draw, you're gonna pay to see it, and pay big.

I am postive I went all in after the flop, and he called and we showed. He showed a Jack, Queen, I showed Jack, 5, and we both had straights. But since the straights were exactly the same, I claimed split pot, he was sick of me claiming split pots, and we left it that I would figure it out from ATOT and we would play tomorrow.

Tell him to quit being a baby. The straight hand was a split pot.

Where is this game? I want in.

I explained this in the other thread. As did everyone else. How hard is it to understand BEST 5? thats it, thats all. 5 out of 7 no matter where they come from.

When it's down to 2 players, you can't exactly wait for AK to play a hand....it's all about playing your opponent when it's heads up, not playing your cards....give the guy a break.

I agree completely. Playing heads-up is a completely different brand of poker. When you're heads-up, you're always in the blinds, so you really have to have a terrible hand (like 2-7 offsuit) to muck it before the flop. The key to winning heads-up is to bet effectively--you can definitely win without having the best cards if you can convince your opponent that what he is holding is not the best hand.

your right you split the pots. its the best 5 cards therefor both those hands would have been split. i believe the only time your cards come into an account is if you both have flushes or straights and your cards are higher then you take the pot.
