ok here's the run down

E6550 system (my wifes main gaming box)
has the super talent 2x2gb (vista hp x86)
4 dimm slots dual channel

e2160 system (my new htpc no gaming)
only single channel (no dual channel :()
vista hp x86
using onboard video nv 7050 (not sure if thats important to add)
2 dimm slots

I purchased 2x1 gb corsair xms2 ram
was going to use this in the htpc
but found out the mb I purchased is only single channel :disgust:

now here are my options

#1 keep (2x2)4gb in the wifes e6550 and 2 gb (2x1) corsair in htpc
#2 use the 2 gb corsair in the e6550 and one stick of the 2gb super talent in the htpc
(and save the 2gb stick for another new rig much later in the future)
#3 use the 2gb stick in the e6550 + use the 2x1gb corsair .. and use one stick of S.T. 2gb ram in the htpc

I know this is stupid lol but it's bugging me!! talking to the wife about it all I get is her "rolling her eyes at me" heh

you totally don't need to worry about single channel/dual channel. memory bandwidth (which is the only difference between single/dual channel) should not really be a bottleneck for you. put the 2GB in the htpc and call it a day.

yea I know it's not the bottleneck

but I read somewhere that having 2 sticks in (in single channel) is slower (a small tiny amount) than one stick
so I just want the best of what I have :)
