As a Brit I can't imagine a wave of 7m on a lake (yeah I know that they are BIG lakes).was reading that they are getting waves up to 7 meters on the westenn shore of Lake Erie (specifically Pelee Island), that's gonna be bad for the people that live on the waters edge

Apparently Lake Erie in particular is susceptible to wave-patterns when the wind is from just the right/wrong direction leading to these waves.
And in yet another unexpected climate-change created problem ... normally by this time of year significant lake-ice would be acting as a "damper" to the surf.

Normally, bacteria decaying a sunken body will bloat it with gas, causing it to float to the surface after a few days. But Lake Superior's water is cold enough year-round to inhibit bacterial growth, and bodies tend to sink and never resurface.
So rather than a body of water, it would be a water of bodies? What's stopping people from dumping bodies in it?![]()
That could also explain the relatively high rate of nitrogen in the lake's water, compared to other fresh water lakes! So rather than a body of water, it would be a water of bodies?
Polar Prolapse. It's what happens when some of the other traditional weather patterns get unstable and can't block cold air from dropping down from the north.
The term for it is "fetch", that is the distance that the wind can act on a body of water. When the direction is just wrong, really bad things can happen.Apparently Lake Erie in particular is susceptible to wave-patterns when the wind is from just the right/wrong direction leading to these waves.
