Another "No audio output device is installed"...

Well, this system is a brand new build it's giving me a run for my money - nothing but headaches. I just had to RMA by brand new 5850. When I unistalled that card, Windows 7 obviously noticed and scanned for new hardware. When it did this, I had to restart.

Upon restart something got corrupted, so one option was to fix the errors in the OS. I said sure - and now I have no audio whatsoever.

I've now installed and uninstalled the onboard Realtek drivers 5 times - including those on the disc and also the latest from Guru 3d. The device is recognized, and enable, and enabled in the bios, and "working properly" but I've got a little red x in the right hand corner - and when you highlight it you get "No audio output device is installed." So what gives you think? Yet another hardware issue or am I missing something?

I even went into device manager and hit scan for new hardware which it did.. And still no fix.

Something is totally borked though. Because I even hit Media Player and pick one of the generic songs that comes with the OS and it states that Windows Media Player cannot support the file. It was working fine a week ago. (Oh, and I grabbed some codecs just in case after getting that error).

Thanks for any suggestions.

FYI, MSinfo32:
