Another Nextel Deal: Unlimited Incoming Calls, 500 Anytime Minutes, and More.

I believe that this deal is National, but could be wrong. Got hooked up today at an Orlando Nextel store. Got what they call the "web pro pack" which includes the very cool Motorola i85s (lots of features and even runs java applications) a Nextel car charger, and Nextel earpiece for $169.95.

Got the "Free Incoming 400" which includes 500 anytime minutes, unlimited incoming calls, unlimited direct-connect (2-way radio between Nextel phones), unlmited internet, no roaming nationwide, 300 two-way messages/month, and nationwide long distance for $69.99/month with 1-year agreement. They waive the $25 activation fee with this deal too. You can even add on unlimited nights and weekends for $10 more.

I know this is a lot of money for a cell phone, but the features/minutes make it easily worth it. Nextel service is much better than Sprint of Cingular in my area, and they have 1-second billing after the first minute.

Nextel is nice, but too much $ for me. I have 2 accounts, AT&T (bought out Cellular 1) with moderate use is under $60/month with taxes & fees for both with free weekends & 250 night minutes. Minimum Nextel is $70/month w/o taxes & fees. I can also hook up my Nokia to my laptop & send faxes, another expense if I had Nextel. The radio function is nice, though.

My cousin who lives in the same area as I do (Northern Virginia, Washington D.C. Metro area) has Nextel and he says its very good when you're in a Nextel area. Service is unfortunately not 100% in the area, so sometimes you lose service. I was considering going with this plan, but it doesn't offer free long distance like so many other plans do.. and in the end I couldn't afford the $70-80 a month the plan costed.. (went with SprintPCS instead, which has similar quality, great when you're in a sprintpcs area, but spotty coverage).

EDIT: Sorry, the plan does include nationwide long distance, but NOT with your Unlimited Nights and Weekends. That means you only get 500 anytime minutes of free long distance. With Sprint at least I get 2500 minutes of free long distance.
(This is at least what their web page says, that unlimited nights and weekends only apply to the local area you are in at the time).
