Another...Need advice on P4 upgrade

I will be going with a P4 setup. What is next big, great setup from Intel as fas as CPU/chipset/memory? Any recommendations on what to avoid?

TIA

Well 533 bus processors just dropped in price. The next big this is 800 front side bus CPUs which will be coming out...soon NDA prohibits me form telling exact date but it's worth waiting for..unless you want cheaper 533 system. 😉 DDR RAM all the way...buh bye RAMBUS!

Boards with the i865 chipset hit retaliers in the past week. Unless you want to fork out for an i875 board (it's a bit faster), the i865 is the one to get.

best ram will be Corsair Twin X (i forgot which number PC xxxx ?)

best boards, look to Asus, MSI, Gigabyte and their 875 chipset based products.

best video card Radeon 9800 pro, not the AIW, just plain 9800 pro.

best sound card Creative Labs Audigy 2 Platinum. a lot of the boards come with audio, but its not very good, just kinda basic.

Hard Drive, i don know, but i would guess either Maxtor or Western Digital Serial ATA drives (like a Raptor), although beware, peopel are apparently having problems with their raptors, i personally like Maxtor the best.

the board should come with an integrated gigabit LAN which actually really nice, so you dont have to worry about networking.

Ok, so the upcomming P4's will have the 800 MHz FSB (200x4). So a matching chipset for this CPU will be the Intel 875 with DDR 400 Memory, so that both are running 800MHz, yes? Now, will these new P4's support the HP technology?

yes, any 800MHz FSB chip will support Hyperthreading.

Springdale (i865) is also a "matching chipset".
