Think about it: How much time do you really spend ogling the exterior of your car or truck? Compare that to the time you spend inside, nestling into the seat, gripping the wheel, twiddling knobs, literally surrounded by the cabin and its details.

Having I'm been saying this exact same thing for years here on this forum?? :D

The only things I don't agree are these two awards:

At the Cobo Center show, where Ford's Thunderbird was named 2002 Car Interior of the Year by Auto Interiors magazine, T-Bird cabin designer Mark Conforzi said the model's interior and exterior were designed side by side.

John Cafaro, chief designer of the acclaimed fifth-generation Chevrolet Corvette, also worked on the Chevy Avalanche interior that took the 2002 Truck Interior of the Year award. And Cafaro attributes the Avalanche's success in part to its novel interior midgate, which folds down to extend the pickup bed into the cabin.

HELLO!!! The new T-Bird has been criticized for having the SAME dash as the Lincoln LS. There's nothing original about it. It was NOT designed along side the exterior of the car. Secondly, the Avalanches interior is straight out of the GM full size pickup/SUV lineup. BIG WHOOP!!

The fact of the matter is that the designer said that the interior of the T-Bird was desiged side by side. BULLSH!T. The dash is a straight carryover from the LS sedan:D I call BS! :p It's typical Ford cost cutting. You have an overall theme with the exterior, then sit inside something that looks JUST like an LS Sedan. How original;)

Toyotas? I'd never give a Toyota an interior design award. They're well built and quality stuff, but I'd never give it a design award Mr. Knowitall ;)

If NE1 deserves an interior design award, it would have been Audi for the new A4 or the the new Mini's interior.

Another interesting article about car/truck interiors........and how Detriot is trying to catch up:

Newsweek

Now Detroit is playing catch-up. Chrysler chief designer Trevor Creed admits he experienced a design epiphany when he first saw the crisply tailored interior of the Audi A6 at a German auto show a few years ago. ?Everything was so precise it was mind-blowing,? recalls Creed. ?My first reaction was, ?How did they do that?? ? To find out, he spirited an A6 into the United States and tore it apart. It became the design template for the soaring interior styling of the Chrysler Pacifica sports wagon debuting next year. ?The Pacifica marks a big change for us,? Creed says. ?When I look back now on our other cars, I?m just not satisfied.?

There's a lot of praise for the Audi and Mini interior in the article above. :)
