Another Machine?

Ok, I am building a new machine, I was originally planning on going AMD, but I found these dual Tiger 100s at overstock.com, I've used these boards in the past and at the price they have 90$ I figure I might as well go with one of those + 2 P3 650-750s overclocked to 866-1000, the reason for going dual processor, more then anything would be for RC5 block increase. Has anyone bought from overstock before? I figure that you could make a really powerful crack rack with these, fc-pga coppermines, and slotkets, (so you can adjust voltage/bus easily). Any thoughts?

Ive bought a duron and the dual tyan board youre referring to. No probs so far.

Im going to pop in a couple of c366's in the tyan.
Russ has bought these boards before, so he should know more about how well they fair with coppermines. Also be aware that cel2 isnt smp capable. :( which would have been nice. 2 533a@850 sweet! Thatz about 4.7mKey/s. :)

I know they work with cuMines, I have a dual 800 system I built on the board, its a beast with the 440bx chipset. I figure intel won't be releasing DDR for a while, the P4 is going to get to have the s$#t beat out of it until it ramps up to higher clock speeds, and AMD is having problems with the 760 chipset, I hear it won't hit streets till december, so a dual board at that price is the best way to go, dual 750s at 1ghz would really pull down the blocks ;).

that board that wont be out till december is
from just one manufact. giga i think.
it is not clear if it will affect other manufact's.

also they will be hard to get and not worth the extra money
for awhile.

other manufact will be coming out with ddr boards
for pent 3 and pent 4 before intel does.

the duron on a ddr board will do pretty well tho.
(when the ddr boards are affordable, i would not want
to pay close to $200 for one of those now, if you can even
find one.)

I havn't seen a comparison of SDRam on the BX chipset to DDR, nor have I seen a comparison of dual channel rdram (its almost affordable at under 200$ per 128mb stick!) yet. Anyone know who has such a comparison?

You have to be careful with these boards. I believe only the F revision will support the coppermine. As far as overclocking I have not worked with them so I can not offer that much advice. Tyan is not known for being great for overclocking. You might want to check what bus speeds are available.

I heard the Revision F boards were the only cuMine supporting ones also, but overstock claims that their Revision Bs will support coppermines. Hmm... is it worth the test? As I understand it they can hit 133, but there is no 1/4th PCI devider and you have to change voltages on slotkets or not at all.
