NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Ex-Saints quarterback Adrian McPherson is suing the Tennessee Titans because their mascot hit him with a golf cart before the second half of an August exhibition.

McPherson filed his civil lawsuit Friday in Davidson County Circuit Court and also is seeking $5 million in compensatory damages for the Titans' negligence and $15 million in punitive damages. A team spokesman said Monday afternoon the Titans were aware of the lawsuit but had no further comment.

The quarterback was on the field Aug. 12 warming up when T-Rac, the Titans' mascot played by director of mascot operations Pete Nelson, hit him with a golf cart while throwing items into the stand.

McPherson missed the rest of the game with a deep bruise in his right knee, and the Saints cut him on Sept. 2.

He was signed by the Austin Wranglers of the Arena Football League in November.

The NFL did not sanction the Titans for the incident but reminded all teams that mascots must stay outside of a six-foot boundary around their fields.

While it's probably a bit high, they did stop him from having another game to prove himself. I think he should be compensated in some way but 20 million is a bit much.

why is 20 million too much? if it is proven that his on the job injury was done out of negligance and stopped his career as a NFL QB then 20 million may be just about right.

There needs to be a law passed that makes Civil suits redirect to the suer if they loose their case and thus allow the person who was being sued to immediately collect punitive damages for the frivolous lawsuit.

Kicked out of college where he was a backup. Arrested twice in 2 years and went to play arena ball @ 19yo. Also never played a down while in the NFL. He would never have made anywhere close to that money.

He wasn't cut due to injury. He only had a bruise and no perm damage. He was cut 3 weeks later. He wasn't placed on the IR list.

He was cut because he couldn't cut it in the NFL. That's why he's signed to the AFL.

Lets be real here.

so what you're saying is that anytime someone loses a lawsuit, that automatically makes the claim frivolous? Interesting standard.

So, basically, this guy knows that he sucks and will never get another shot at the NFL. If he were to win this suit and then eventually get into the NFL would he then have to pay back the money?

The NFL has discriminated against me for years because I'm "too slow." It's lawsuit time. The speed-deprived have been held back too long!

Ya and just plain forget about sixth round quarterbacks... they're hardly worth a couple bucks. What the hell did that Tom Brady guy ever do anyway?
