Sounds like a confession.Unlike Former Officer Dorner, I fear dying; But I also fear living in a society where Innocent people are dying for no reason. A society where pain so great can be afflicted to people who have to desire to live right and treat people right and then be punished for doing right.
...
After Joining the LAPD in 1989 I quickly found out that the world and society had major flaws.
...
The pain forces me to speak as I have yet to shake the Ill’s of my experience as an LAPD Officer.
I think it should be mandated that police around the country have to video their duties at all times. That mall guard recently with the tazered woman obviously carries a camera. I really think cops need to be reigned in in general and knowing that everything they do is being filmed would do it.
i completely agree. this would be SO NICE IF THIS COULD HAPPEN.
Lots of cops do film their actions. It works both ways you know. A cop that can prove his arrest was legit is going to save himself a lot of hassle.
I seriously doubt that any cop in and of themselves purchases their own equipment to film themselves while on duty...Lots of cops do film their actions. It works both ways you know. A cop that can prove his arrest was legit is going to save himself a lot of hassle.

The company I work for recently started selling a camera solution that clips to your shirt. We have had several police departments start pilot programs. The major downside is it can easily be shut off by the end user or in am emergency chucked into a lake.

A guy I sorta know got beat up and had one of his arms broken by 2 police officers. Who then went on to put his broken arm behind his back and handcuff him. They had a dash cam that should have caught the whole incident, only thing is it wasn't working that morning. The cops found out our store has outside surveillance cameras. So they sent a few other officers to view our video and get to the bottom of what happened. Well it mysteriously came up missing off our DVR. They had talked extensively with my boss and knew he knew absolutely nothing about the DVR or computers in general. But I do, and I had already exported the portion that got deleted to a DVD because the guy with the broken arm had wanted a copy.
Everything the cops did here was either super deliberate, or it was just the worst luck in the world for the guy who got beat the fuck up. I have a feeling always on cams won't help all that much, because in my example it's pretty clear what happened. Yet it's 2+ years down the road nothing has been done to any of the officers. There's at least 4 who were covering up here.
Was your video pretty good?A guy I sorta know got beat up and had one of his arms broken by 2 police officers. Who then went on to put his broken arm behind his back and handcuff him. Ultimately if a lot of cops were found with "broken" cameras, real-time streaming could resolve that, but even without that if four cops have their cameras miraculously stop working it points to criminality. Inam sure technology can be used to better keep the police honest.
