Another interesting GPU observation - Adobe Illustrator can use multi-GPUs with different model

For a while, I was having serious Adobe Illustrator issues, where everything becomes completely unresponsive whenever the VRAM is nearing full utilization. I still think it was the GTX 1050ti choking out with the 4K display and extremely complex illustrator files. Upgrading the GPU to the GTX 1070 solved all performance issues.

For fun, I plugged the GTX 1050ti card back into the system and saw that both GPUs see healthy utilization when working with complex illustrator files with no slow down.

There are a number of professional programs which will utilize multiple GPU's. Non games do not use SLI or Crossfire and do not require any special syncing to deliver smooth frames, so they do not have the same requirements that games do. You should even be able to use different brands in a number of applications other than gaming.
