hey all ,

Great info here . Need a little help. I have 2x6850 running in cf mode... I'm looking for more. Games don't crash ,but the frames are all over the place and I spend a good bit of time tweaking ,instead of gaming.I got these cards locally and paid too much. I can return them however. I'm currently looking at the evga gtx 570 ti 2.5g to replace the 6850's ... what do you think ?
1) I'd like a single card.
2) I can't wait for kepler.

I. Fx 4100 3.6ghz
II. Current Graphics Card: 2x 6850cfx
III. Display Resolution: 1920x1080
IV. cooler master 700w silent pro
V. Antec nine hundred two
Asus m5A99x mobo
8gb ddr3 ram

I. Budget?
II. looking at a evga gtx 570 ti ... (see below)

III.at present I'd like to go back to a single GPU

IV. Have you previously looked at a product(s) which you feel would fit your needs?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130687

V. What are your needs for this GPU? Bf3 ,RO2, etc... looking for reasonably high

VI. only within factory spec.

Thanks in advance !

My brother has a 570, he likes it. Only issues we've had with it is needing to change drivers from time to time due to game crashes.

People here will be able to recommend a good deal for what you want. Do you have a price range you're willing to stay in?

Get a 7970 and dump your 'dual-core' unless you can OC it to > 4.5ghz.

thanks for the fast reply ,,, I suppose around 360-400 ... the evga gt70ti I linked has a $25 instant rebate ... I paid more for 2 x6850 at the the local shop ,,, not very happy with those guys , but I should have done my research.

Thanks again.
* thanks exarkun33 ! you snuck that in as I was typing ;)*

You should rule out your processor being the major problem before considering a gpu upgrade from 6870 CF which by it's own right is a pretty decent setup.

Run MSI Afterburner while playing a round of multiplayer in BF3 with your settings at all High/1080p. Then tell us what your GPU usage range is during the game.

I can promise your it's not your GPUs that are holding you back.

hmmm... thanks alot guys. By consensus I gather my CPU is the bottleneck ? Interesting. I did play a round of RO2 (single-player) frames were in the 70's but it wasn't as smooth as it should've been . If that's the case a CPU is cheaper than GPU . I appreciate the help .
It's a shame , I try to support small local shops ,told them excactly what I wanted to do and ended up paying WAY more than net prices for less performance.
Thanks again, gents ~

Run an app to see you if your CPU is the bottleneck, or you could use task manager. But it consumes 5-10% cpu by itself. But if you stays up above 90%, then your CPU is certainly limiting you.

You can't go wrong with a 2500K, I'm running mine at a very conservative 4.2ghz and never have any issues with games and my 5870.

RO2 is notorious for being extremely CPU heavy. The 6850s in CF on the other hand, are amazing.

GL with your Intel setup ;)
