Police say sweeps in Copenhagen and Stockholm prevented terrorist attack

Intelligence agency PET has arrested four men on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack against the Copenhagen of Jyllands-Posten newspaper.
According to the agency, the arrests were made in suburban Copenhagen and were made following a long-term surveillance operation in collaboration with the Swedish law-enforcement agency SÄPO.

Three of the suspects are Swedish residents and reportedly arrived in Denmark last night, and PET said the attack was to be carried out “in the coming days”.

All four suspects have Middle-Eastern or North African backgrounds.

In addition to the arrests in Copenhagen, Swedish officials arrested a fifth suspect in Stockholm at the same time.

During the arrests, Danish police found an assault rifle and silencer, ammunition, as well as plastic strips, which are often used by police as hand restraints.

According to PET, the group planned to kill as many people as possible in the building that houses Jyllands-Posten.

Jakob Scharf, head of PET, described the suspects as “militant Islamists that had connections to international terror networks”.

“The arrests underscore the terrorist threat that Denmark faces, and in particular anyone who is connected to the Mohammed drawings,” Scharf said.

So... every single one of these "imminent terror suspects" that have been arrested have been of North African and Middle Eastern heritage.

When does it become OK to start profiling them and leaving the rest of us the fuck alone?

When people stop comparing them to the Japanese in WWII.

It's OK - They weren't really Muslim.

Sorry for the confusion. I see you are from Denmark and aren't familiar with the insanity on this issue that exists in the United States.

There's an attitude here in the USA that Islamic Terrorists/Extremists somehow aren't really Muslim.

Many people (myself included) find this idea absolutely ridiculous, since even the Prophet Mohammed himself said that anyone who calls themselves Muslim and makes efforts to follow the dictates of the faith is, in fact, a Muslim.

I hate when all of these news magazines reference the dark ages for the enlightenment of Islam. Back then, it was in the Caliphates' interest to let the sciences grow, and they were too busy expanding their empires to police the people. Let's look at right now: woman have no rights over there, many non-muslims are tried for heresy, and most of the countries don't have any sort of real democracy.

Once we get rid of the bleeding heart, holier than thou, treat others as you would treat yourself crowd.
There are a lot of people in this country in some serious denial about reality. So much so they will look for and create any link or way to move the blame from the actual people that are the problem, to a larger less voliail group so they can appease themselves and claim they are not racists.

I think it's funny reaction to cartoons showing Islam as a violent supremacist cult is to commit more violence. That'll show them infidels.

Muslims' rage at the Motoons reveals their Achilles heel and it's becoming clearer that people are starting to understand the real Islam over the whitewashed, PC version.

I am sticking with the "some people are just born and/or become batshit fucking crazy" line of thought.

Sure you have the whole "if its just a few crazy ones why don't the others speak out louder against them" argument. I am pretty sure it is because they don't want to get blown up by the batshit fucking crazy assholes anymore than we do.

If someone is willing to kill himself just to kill me and doesn't give a shit if my kids are with me when he does, yeah I really have no desire to piss that guy off. We used to just call crazy fuckers what they are, crazy fuckers, and we would put them in a place with the rest of the crazy fuckers and if they happened to do crazy shit only other crazy fuckers would get hurt.

The only issue with Islam that I see is the crazy fuckers think they have an incentive for doing crazy shit (the entire virgin thing for blowing shit up). I guarantee you that if Catholics believed killing gays would give them a one way shot upstairs that crazy fuckers like the Phelps would have blown up half of San Fransisco by now.

I say that the powers that be in the Islam faith should come out and say they found a new scripture (or whatever they call it) that says if you blow yourself up you still get the virgins but they all look and act like Rosie O'Donnell. They would cut that shit out by Friday.

This shows that the North African and Middle Eastern heritage people are integrating into society there. Europeans have a long and proud history with terrorism. Even right now European anarchists are going crazy mailing bombs to embassies throughout the continent.

Terrorism is part of European culture.

Didn't make it past the first couple lines did you?
The fact that woman aren't required to wear a burqa in all Muslim countries isn't news. But in some, they are.

In addition, those women who rose to positions of power did it through their own will and against a prejudiced system of beliefs. They are extraordinary people and are not the norm; in any case, Muslim nations need to have women in their cabinets to make them look diverse and democratic. Not just any woman in such a country could run for a high position of office - they would need to know someone or have a serious amount of money.

Given that the thread took a little detour into Female world leaders, presumably Earl is making a reference to Golda Maier, one of Israel's first Prime Ministers and something like the 3rd woman ever to reach such a position.

And that she was put in the position only for show like the Islamic women leaders
Scream no no no scream no no scream

I'm sure many people would like to hear more about that. Do you claim females can not be successful leaders and are just for show?

Yes, but I don't understand how Israel has anything to do with how women are treated in the Arab world. If you can explain this point, I'd appreciate it.
