Unlike most of the "box" auctions, this one is actually quite clear as to what is being sold.

I can't blame the seller tho, sure he's making money off other people .. but really, he CLEARLY stated that it was only the box. Yet someone still bought it for 90 bucks ... fault the buyer on this one.

just goes to show how easily auctions can be manipulated to boost the price and/or feedback ratings.

Caveat emptor...

What the hell are you talking about. This guy is going to get negative feedback when the winner gets an empty box in the mail. That's assuming he already sent payment.

if someone doesn't realize he's paying $90 for a box that clearly says it's a box... then that's his fault

It looks like u-haul, ryder, public storage, etc are missing out on a lucrative market. If they would only emblazon their boxes with logos of game consoles instead of their own, they could make dozens of dollars on each box sold instead of dozens of cents.

Let me guess - you bought an empty GameCube box?

If eBay actually cared about its customers they'd ban all empty-box auctions.

If you're expecting to be scammed on eBay it's easy to spot that this is a dirty trick. But think about your mom or dad who's new to eBay and has only bought 1-2 other eBay items. Mom does a search on XBOX to find your Xmas gift, sees this auction at $75, puts in a bid at $90, "wins" you a nice Xmas gift. :(

Someone not expecting to be cheated could easily take "XBOX *Brand New* BOX ONLY" to mean that you're getting the non-empty box without any extra games or accessories. Notice that the "does not include anything inside" line wasn't added until 2 days after the auction started.

Actually, Almost all the ones I've seen were pretty clear, and they still sold like hotcakes...

That's pretty funny. I just hope no one points that out to the buyer. I say they need to learn how to read the hard way.
