HI,
So...I'm pretty much set on what I'm getting, however some advice would be nice. From what I've been reading I don't need to buy such an expensive MoBo and just buy the ASRock X58 Extreme, since it's reliable and inexpensive. Also missing is the heatsink, I'm thinking about getting the V8, but I'm open to better options...

Advice much appreciated.

I'd get a Caviar Black if you're not getting an SSD. Similar price, better performance and you should try to squeeze as much performance out of your HDD as possible since it's the bottleneck of any system.

Also, can you not do any better than a GTX260? GTX275 or one of the new Radeon cards would be far superior.

If you are going to o/c the hell out of that 920 then look at any of the suggestions made here:

OP you are still trying to decide.....

To reiterate, any coolers on the list below:

- Thermalright 120 Extreme (aka TRUE)
- IFX-14
- Scythe Mugen 2
- Megahalems/Megashadow
- Noctua NH-D14 (Probably the best air right now)
http://www.clunk.org.uk/reviews/noctua-nh-d14-premium-cpu-cooler-review/Page-6.html
- Alpenfohn Nordwand or Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme
- Thermolab Baram
- Corsair H50 (liquid)
- Xigmatek Thor's Hammer
- Zalman CNPS10x Extreme

Will all hit 4.0ghz-4.1ghz on a 920. So at this point it all comes down to price. But even Cogage True Spirit for $40 should be able to 4.0ghz.

If we are talking about 4.3ghz+, then we are talking water cooling most likely or Noctua D14:
http://www.caseandcooling.fr/refroidissement/articles/782-test-du-noctua-nh-d14?start=3

Also dual fan IFX-14 will beat the Corsair H50 (and so will dual fan D14).

Personally, I would go for the TRUE or Prolimatech Megahalems with a Bolt-Thru-Kit:

Edit: btw the Noctua NH-D14 weighs a ton - 900g without fans and 1070/1240g with fans. The Megahalem and TRUE weigh 790g without fans. The TRUE copper weighs 1900g without fans. I really wouldn't want almost 2kg of HSF hanging off my MB

WoW, thank you for your responses. Very informative.

About the SSD, I would love to get one on my hands but the price is way off for me. My budget is around $1400, currently without the cooler it's $1300 so you see how it is.
Or possibly I'll just get rid of the fan controller and buy a cheaper case. However BF is coming up, this might put me in a position where I might buy it. We shall see...

Great advice about coolers, I will go with Thermalright 120. Read couple of reviews and from what I'm seeing it's good enough for me. And yes, I will be O/Cing but most likely near 3.5GHZ.

I'm still bummed about the SSD's, I heard they increase your performance right out of the box with amazing seeds. We'll see how it goes.

Another thing, GPU's. I don't think I'll be needing anything more powerful than the 260, mainly because I have a 22' screen and I used to have a 9800GTX+ which played most games on MAX. Plus, I don't do heavy shit, at least for now. All I will be doing is gaming and programming...

I just built an i7. Went with the HAF as well (great quiet case, but collects dust quickly in front aka get some filters for it), but a HD 4890 1GB instead of nvidia, same memory as you, and the eVGA X58 mobo.

You want good air, go with the Cogage True Spirit. It's new and there aren't very many reviews on it, but the one's there are show how amazing it is for the price. I got one for special deal @ $35 and I'm idling at 29C, 37C load.

Currently $40 here but it is seriously kickass for the price. The stock fan is high quality and CFM is great.
