i do know web advertising is not doing too well...but pls read on to get a better picture.

I have been thinking about 'this' for 2 to 3 years, and during that time many websites have incorporated the ideas i have in their websites, but none of them have done it really successfully. i am afraid if i procrastinate too much longer someone will finally make a website that will be a replica of what i have in mind. SO...i have decided to start and implement the website by the end of the summer. to be honest, this does not necessarily have to be a business, but i think it has potential to develop into a business at later times. i'm doing just to see if i have the ability to make a website that will attract a lot of ppl. if it does become a business, almost all revenues will be from web advertisements. i know that you can't make much money in that field anymore, but was wondering what the ongoing rates are now. anybody run their own website business that generate rev from ads? how much do sites like f8twallet, anandtech, etc make a year? any advice or leads would be great. would like an idea of how the industry works.

f8twallet ad rates

I find that the sites that are the most successful are the niche type. AppleTurns is a good example. It's a really good Mac site and the writer has a lot of loyal small mac parts dealers as his advertisers. I don't remember how much he charges though.

Also, since when is the word f8twallet banned here? What's up with that?

Apparently, no one can afford FW's $100/day forum advertising rate...

f8twallet must be hoarding the money with those advertising rates! how much do you think it costs to host a site like f8twallet a month?
