yes, but it's slow and only now it's getting close. It will probably not die before hitting the US

Louisianna, Alabama, Mississippi now need to be put on alert. The forecast track continues to shift westward.

5 day forecast

Damn...I had this feeling as soon as it entered the eastern Caribbean sea. Everyone here thought I was crazy when I said this thing was going to hit the FL Panhandle and then head up through Alabama.

This is very bad for Auburn right now. I hope it doesn't shift any further west, because if it hits the Panhandle farther west it will track up through Montgomery and Birmingham.

With the history of events surrounding the Auburn/LSU game, I would not be surprised if Ivan heads right through Auburn and forces Auburn to postpone this weekend's game. Hopefully for those of you in the projected path, Ivan will fizzle out in the gulf (though I doubt it). Take care if you are in the path.

I don't expect the game to happen this weekend.

There is talk of the Auburn/LSU game being moved to Sunday and Gameday location has been moved to East Lansing.

NOGAPS has it running a course up the Mississippi river...

link

It has an uncanny knack of skirting land though, first South America, then Jamaica, the Yucatan Peninsula and now Cuba. It's almost like it is saving itself for something.

I just got this announcement in my campus email about Ivan

CAMPUS CONNECTION EXTRA

Severe weather and/or hurricane force winds from Hurricane Ivan may arrive in the Opelika/Auburn area Wednesday or Thursday of this week. Auburn University is working closely with the American Red Cross, the Lee County Emergency Management Agency, the National Weather Service and other public service entities. At this time, the Coliseum, Haley Center and the Student Activities Center on campus are all approved emergency shelter locations for students, faculty, staff and the community at large.

Students and faculty/staff living in mobile homes are strongly urged to take precautions in securing their belongings and to seek shelter in one of these facilities if the hurricane approaches.

At this time, no classes are canceled, but check the Web site at www.auburn.edu and your email accounts daily for updated information.

Information regarding the AU-LSU football game
Any decision regarding the status of Saturday?s game will only be made following consultation with the agencies listed above along with the Southeastern Conference Commissioner?s office and representatives of Louisiana State University. At this time, there has been no change in the date, starting time, or location of the LSU - Auburn football game, but the status of the game will be re-evaluated throughout the coming hours and days.

However, due to the high probability of damaging wind and flooding, no RVs will be permitted to park anywhere on campus until further notice. We encourage all those who plan to travel to Auburn for the game to do so only when the University announces the game will definitely be held.

ESPN?s Game Day program, which had been scheduled to broadcast Saturday from Auburn, will be relocated to another school.

For updates on the situation, please check the Auburn Web site daily at www.auburn.edu, or visit the game day Web site at www.auburn.edu/gameday

Well...it's no longer headed WNW. He appears to have turned a little more north and is headed NNW.

NOGAPS = GUTB version. It goes crazy.

Actually all of the models are choking with this one. This hurricane should've been named after a female because it's going to be a real bitch.

Don't let that jog to the N fool you. It looks like it's starting to jog to the left again. The steering currents are extremely week. Anyone from TX to FL needs to keep a lookout on this one. Don't get caught with your pants down. Of course, when the blow is 150 mph strong (and stronger even!) your pants will be ripped right off your hindparts...

Cheers!

New track has the center passing pretty damn close to me. Probably going to go stock up on some batteries, candles, water, etc tomorrow.

It's getting closer to hitting here. Work is cancelled for the rest of the week, it seems.
