ANOTHER HS Kid in my Area... dead.

This is getting ridiculous. First there was a suicide at the other high school in my district, then a suicide at my school, now a deadly car accident. Last year there was an attempted suicide at my school as well.

I knew the kid that died in the crash as he was in my Psychology class. I wasn't too friendly with him, but I knew him enough to say a hello or two in passing. He died going 80mph down a winding forest road while drunk and not wearing a seatbelt. He knocked over three trees and rolled his car before all was said and done.

Yet another reason why I will NEVER drink and drive, especially while underage.

:(

Survival of the fittest my friend. Shame he had to die, but these things happen when people make dumb decisions.

The sad part is when they take innocent bystanders out with them...

It sounds terrible. But I agree. He made some BAD decisions.

I highly doubt that there was anything that could have been done. The place where the accident occured is in a very rural part of my area and I almost NEVER see any cops. Foxes and deer standing in the middle of the road are common occurences.

It seems like recently drinking and driving issues have really come into the spotlight. There has to be something we can do to stop it.

I had a feeling that it'd be driving-related. Not surprised that he was drunk as well.

Edit: I hate those rural PA roads with no shoulder.

That is pretty sad, but at the same time what can you expect when you make such stupid decisions.

Oh there are things that can be done. But nothing will get accomplished any time soon. You would be amazed at the number of high school kids (not jsut seniors) that spend every Friday and Saturday night drinking and partying. I'm fortunate enough to have some good friends who I can do safe, fun activities with.

Yeah because tougher driving laws are going to prevent idiots from being idiots.

That said, OP talk to someone if you find yourself feeling weird, it will help.

I don't feel "weird" about it, just a bit upset that kids are making bad decisions. Like I said, I hardly knew the kid.

Make driving tests actually test people and make them work for a license. Also, don't give illegals licenses.

The isssue here is NOT the difficulty of the driving test. It doesn't matter how hard or easy getting a license is... when you drive drunk it all goes out the window anyhow.

That's good. A lot of high school kids get all emo when a fellow student dies even if their only connection was going to the same school. When students died at my college I didn't even go to the memorial services, because it bothered me that people were acting like the death had a deep impact on their lives even if they didn't know the person who died.

Ah yes. Classic Posers. They didn't even know the kid and they're acting like it's their own brother.

NO

stop blaming tougher, ridiculous laws for a illiterate decision. Laws couldnt have done anything there.

People like you who are actually making life bad for good drivers. Cops are more interested in catching you for stupid parking laws and random inconsequential laws, rather than just being on the lookout for such drunk people because a dead guy doesnt make them money.
