Another "how much power do I need question"

My current PSU is a Seasonic SS 350w(390w peak), +3.3v/28a, +5.0v/30a, +12v19a

The system's main power use componants will include:
Opty 165
2x1gb Mush Xtreme DDR500
1 SataII HD
6600GT AGP
2x120mm fans
1 DVD-Rom
1 DVD/CD burner

Not sure if I need to consider these?
92mm fan on CPU cooler
fan on Zalman VF700
motherboard
USB headphones
USB mouse
1 Floppy

Seems most popular calculators stay under the 350w rating-but not by much-but I do plan on OCing everything too. I sure would feel better if others could voice there opinions to sway me to stay with what I have, or spend more money (which of course myself & most others like to avoid if we can).

Up the road I do plan on upgrading to PCI-E, perhaps something extreme like a 7800GTX 512, or what ever else is cutting edge at the time. Of course then I will need to upgrade the PSU if I don't do it now. As usual, I'd rather wait to upgrade the PSU until then if possible.

So, all opinions welcome!

Thanks

Al

I would get a new PSU at least a 450w but if you can afford it get one in the 500-600w range you may not need that much but I am of the opinion it is better to have and not need than need and not have when it comes to PSU's.

It is not always about wattage. You also want 30-38 amps on the 12V rail. This will give you leeway in future graphics cards.

A 600 watt powersupply with a 20amp 12V rail is worthless these days for mid to highend systems.

That PSU may just be enough at stock, but barely, and not gonna have much luck with overclocking, 19A on the 12v rail just isn't enough. I think that 30-38A is probably an overkill, but at least 25A. I was able to run a 2.8ghz prescott@3.5ghz, with a 6800GT overclocked to ultra speeds, and 2x36gb raptors with a 350w enermax, but it had 26A on the 12v rail.

Agreed. Once you start to OC, you might run into truoble wiht that PSU. And if you ever plan to upgrade the VC, 19A will not be anough.
