Hmm, if Iraq will turn like Phillipine, I would consider the war a sucesses. Phillipine has been one of the most staunch ally for US in Asia.

I suppose the Phillipines being such a staunch allie didn't make Bush feel safe enough to spend the night there as the article hagbard posted stated if you even took the time to read it.

Fact remains Phillipines has been a longtime US ally in the SE Asia/Pacific Region. Again, if Iraqis will turn to be like the Phillipines, the war effort is a success. US will have another ally in the Arab world besides Kuwait.
And how the heck a Professor knows anything about Bush's entourage and the underlying reason? She would never know and she just taking shot at him, just like any other people that like to curse Bush.

The US has had to help the Phillipine government with the terrorists problem there. Muslim extermists are a threat to the stability of the Phillipines. They may be an allie of the US but they are experiencing major economic and social problems from what I have read in the news recently.

There you go, the problem lies in the Moslem extremist as usual. They always fighting for their "so-called" independence, and terorize the local population to support them (mostly in Southern Mindanao). The US indeed offers assistance since some of these group might have tied to Al-Qeda, just what you expected to do to an ally.
And what country in SE Asia doesnt experience major socio-economic problem since late 90s ? Thailand has it, Malaysia has it, Indonesia is still a big mess. Phillipine is no different from those country. Even Singapore's economy is not as good as it used to be. Doesn't help matters when the Philipinos themselves elect a corrupt president a couple years back. Good thing they wise up and throw him out.
