...many conservatives are willing to abandon the principles of limited government when it comes to gay people.

What principle of limited government? Certainly you aren't talking about any recent Republican administration, at least since Nixon.

Well there's an old famous political science study called 'The Nature of Belief Systems in Mass Publics' where they basically found that very few average people actually had coherent political philosophies. Much like the liberals who mock conservative anti-science in regards to climate change and yet ignore the science on GMOs, many conservatives are willing to abandon the principles of limited government when it comes to gay people.
Or sometimes small government is just a matter of perspective. In this case, how are the parents going to steal from their disowned son/daughter and his/her partner if the government says they're married?

Yeah, commie. ;)

Seriously though how anyone in statewide public office in Alabama could be so tone deaf as to basically sound like George Wallace from 50 years ago is beyond me.

Yeah, all those commie Scientists and NASA and Military people etc.

If they every run things it would turn the country into a communist gubernment.

:hmm:

WAIT A MINUTE.

Oh I'm more than aware of the political situation and how it has evolved over the years. For example, it's funny how the party that is dominant in the south and has lots of problems with race is the now party of Lincoln...lol!

Still, it takes some special level of stupid to put idiots like that bible-thumpin' judge in power.

Well, the south has voted in a bunch of idiots.....Lester Maddox, David Duke, George Wallace, and many others.

And it's funny......back when it was the "party of Lincoln", it was the progressive party, not the ultra-conservative, ultra-religious party of today. Wonder if any Repubs. from Lincoln's time would weep seeing what the party's become.

Lincoln was a RINO.
