Some of you may remember previous threads that discussed microwaving grapes, various inflammable/sparking/super rapid heating poptart flavors, and other interesting items.

I found a new one today:

Step 1: take bag of Soft n' Chewy Chips Ahoy Chips Deluxe out of fridge.
Step 2: stick in microwave for 40 seconds

Microwave is still smoking. The smoke was coming from the microwave itself, not the bag (whose interior looks like tin foil btw).

Plastic tray in the bag has mostly melted and shrink-wrapped around some of the cookies, and is quite hot.

COOKIES ARE STILL COLD!

I like nuking Peeps. It's getting to be the time of the year when they're on sale for Easter. Wee! :p

Not surprising, microwaves don't like metallic objects in them, and that's also the reason the cookies are cold, since the metal acts as a barrier to the microwaves, but builds up enough charge to start arcing - it's that that shagged the oven

That's what I thought, except that the clear plastic tray the cookies were in which was inside the bag got hot and mostly melted and shrunk to less than half it's original size (half the cookies were eaten to start with).

Also, I didn't see any arcing.
