I'm in the network, I'm inviting people that I personally know. I don't want it to become like Asian Avenue, then Friendster. The quality of the service will go downhill if so.

Orkut? What a great brand name. Sounds like something you'd pick up from someone on friendster and need a shot to cure.

"The Friendster clone is the work of Google employee and former Stanford graduate Orkut Buyukkokten."

I guess it all starts with him and his friends.

He was a Stanford graduate but he's not anymore?

When you have people selling invites on eBay, the quality WILL go down. Eventually everyone will be on it and it'll turn into another Friendster.

it was named after the guy at google that developed it

google tried to buy friendster and was rejected , so they had an employee develop their own version

friendster should have sold out.. their site is poorly managed.. slow as hell.. and they barely ahve any banners to bring in some revenue.. and the design is bland and not very professional looking
