Another Duron OC question (sorry)

I looked and searched the archive before I posted this but couldn't find the post I was looking for so... but I need your opinion guys.

I have a Duron 650 @ 850, 1.75 V and a ChromeOrb, Asus A7v rev 1.02 bios 1004.

My concern is, even at 650, the idle temp started at around 45C...at 850, it idles at 48 and under full load, 52C... my question is why? I've seen normally, idle's at 38C and full load at 44 C.

I believe I put the ChromeOrb on correctly, so I'm totally lost on why the high temp.

thanks a bunch guys.

I have a chrome orb too, the one with the squarish bottom so it lays on the rubber pads of the cpu. I used arctic silver thermal grease spread on very thinly on the die then sat the chrome orb down gently. I have a rear case fan close to the cpu and voltage regulators in the back that vent the warm air out along with the power supply fan blowing the same way. I have a Duron 700 at 1.85v 9.5x105 (997.5Mhz) 1Ghz. It wasn't until I switched from the Gold orb to the Chrome orb that I could get past 900Mhz. Temps were 36c - 39c before, 33c - 38c now. Again I have my thermistor taped close to the die on top of the cpu and have my Chrome orb on top. Some people have my same temps other more like yours who's to say why. Try a case fan blowing out, Arctic Silver thermal grease and take out mobo and make sure that HSF is sitting correctly.
