Another Dog Thread

I live in apartment, but I would really like to have a dog. I don't really have a whole lot of time outside of work to take a dog to a park, or long walks. So I would like to have a little dog that can get the majority of it's excerise needs indoors(I have a good size living room). What kind of experiences do you guys have with chihuhuas? Or other dogs that would fit this bill.

You can use more than one.

I was always anti-small dog because I saw them as feminine, but now that I have a Chihuahua/Min Pin mix I changed my mind. She is the greatest dog I have ever had experience with.

anyone who has owned a pug will inform you that you arer just wrong in the face.
these dogs are sturdy strong for their size and gentle and affectionate.
i owned a mongrel for 20fucking yrs he was hit by a car and it fucking sucked!:brokenheart:
he was mean at times, but i loved the bastard all the same.

We had the opportunity to get a chihuahua/terrier mix. I wasn't too thrilled about it because a) my kids have allergies and we weren't sure about the dander with this dog and b) I don't care for tiny tiny dogs. I prefer something in the cocker spaniel, beagle size or bigger.

Ended up being a moot point because a large stray dog adopted our backyard. He actually turned out to be pretty shy and friendly dog as well as patient and protective with the kids. We couldn't get animal control to come out to pick him up so we've been feeding him, trying to gain his trust, and taking care of him.

Chihuahua's are one of the most vicious dogs out there, bark at everything, and get spoiled very easily. I seriously hate these dogs. If they were bigger they'd have a worse rep than pitbulls.

I've had large dogs and now I have 2 chihuahua's. Great little dogs with no litigation hazard that large dogs now have due to our litigious society. The chi's will give you extreme alertness and situational awareness with none of the headaches and risks of a big dog. Talk to your home owner insurance carrier for info on big dog litigation hazards.

We've got two full blooded chihuahuas and one retriever/chow mix. The chihuahuas are awesome little dogs, they are, as IGBT said, very alert and one of ours is particularly protective of the family. I was the typical guy when the wife expressed her desire to get a chichi, but now I'm glad she got it. I was responsible for getting the second one.

I would actually prefer a minature pinscher. But I read they are terrible for an apartment because they have so much energy they need a yard to be in every day.

Your neighbors will hate you for getting a noise machine. A cat is more appropriate.
