YADR = "Yet Another Dell Rant"
Well, about a year ago I got totally screwed by Dell thanks to their "Great Support", but I'm not going to get into that story again. If you want to know just ask RossMAN
. About a month ago I decided I wanted a laptop again and started looking. I somehow ended up with yet another Dell. This time an Inspiron 8200 (last time it was an I 8000).
Many of the flaws in the I8000 have been fixed however now there are NEW problems. This time instead of a messed up video card it has a messed up modem. For some reason the modem randomly drops the connection (it will drop the connection every time I close the lid (which should just shut off the display)). Also, sometimes when I (or it) disconnects the system will lock up solid (have to hold the power button for 5 seconds).
I finally went on Dell's forums and found about 100 other people having the same problems with the same modem. It seems the only solution is to replace it with another brand modem which Dell is not always willing to do. Needless to say I'm @#$%T@$ at Dell (again!!!). Some people said they are on their 5th modem. I really don't want to return the laptop (like I did last year). I don't know what to do?!?! Now I really wish I had gotten the On Site warranty instead of the mail in. They better get it right this time or.......ELSE!
