Two pickup trucks were on the shoulder of 635 taking care of a flat tire when a semi plowed into both trucks and exploded in a ball of fire (the fuel tank ruptured) IIRC). a lady going in the opposite direction stopped to take pictures. Deciding she wanted to get closer to get a better view, she decides to run across 4 freeway lanes and one HOV lane (high occupancy vehicle lane for carpoolers)...she makes it across the 4 lanes but gets smacked by a car in the HOV lane and dies on the way to the hospital...

i can't find a link to the video of the traffic cameras showing the lady getting hit though (the clip shown on TV stops just prior to impact)....

what ticked me off the most about this is that on the radio this morning, they had the nerve to say the the driver of the car probably won't face any charges...how the hell is that even a remote possibility given the lady's total stupidity????

searched on darwin and didn't see anything so i hope this ain't a repost...

Rubbernecking to an entire new extreme.

She should have known better to cross a HOV lane. People are always going 90+ in those lanes.

Maybe they meant the driver of the car that hit her?

yesterday, they didn't know why she crossed...some people assumed that she was running over to help, but they confirmed today that she was trying to take pictures....

"Then, in a separate accident at the same location, a pedestrian in the westbound lanes of LBJ was struck and killed after getting out of the car, perhaps to offer help in connection with the first accident. "

says nothing about her takeing pictures.

I don't feel so bad knowing she died trying to take pictures instead of trying to help.

yes..they were talking about that driver...this person was driving along the freeway when some crazy lady runs across the freeway right in front of their car...not to minimize the death of that lady, but now that person who hit her has to get their car fixed, pay the deductible, get a rental, miss time from work, etc because of the stupidity of one person...i wonder if they can get reimbursed from the family of the dead lady...

635 (LBJ) attracts the very worst drivers, and then brings out the absolute worst behavior in them. I can't tell you how many times I've dodged accidents from people not looking, changing lanes on a whim, tailgating, weaving, weaving through the HOV lane, reading a newspaper, putting on makeup, talking on their cell phone while reading the newspaper and doing their makeup, driving faster than "that a$$***e over there" because his car is not quite as shiny as mine, etc.

Well this lady probably thought <8am on Sunday morning would be an opportune time.. light traffic and all.. to cross lanes on foot. The sad thing is that she basically forfeited her life when she stopped her car. She's lucky her passenger didn't get creamed by some soccer mom in a hurry to get to early church service passing some old person via the right shoulder.

Remember that the average IQ is 100. This means that some people need to populate the left side of the bell curve...

Driving in that whole I35-E/I45/I30/635 area is fucking crazy - always busy, always congested, and worst of all are the insane drivers. It's like 10x worse than Fort Worth/Arlington/Irving/Grapevine.

Seriously.

I was driving on the 99 in CA one time. The two directions of the freeway are divided by thick bushes. I was driving in the far left lane one time, when all of a sudden, two people JUMPED OUT of the fucking bushes and sprinted across the freeway. I had to slam on my brakes and the person behind me almost ran into me because of it. If I would have hit those motherfuckers I would have been seriously fucking pissed.....well or rather my boss would have been since I was driving the company truck lol.

I would have wiped them out and played stupid when the police took my statement.

I reacted too quickly. Hell if I HAD hit them, there's no way it would have been my fault. If they had waited just a few seconds to jump out, they'd probably both be dead. Being smacked by a Toyota Tundra doing 70MPH can't be good for you.
