dont think this is a huge problem..but i just cant figure it out... i use to use cable internet and my connection was hardwired, CS was fine.

a week ago i upgraded to wireless. since then my counterstrike has been a lagging....its not the connection lag...im gettin 100% signal...
my ping on all the servers i join is like 40-80...i have 0-5 packet loss and 0-5 choke.

those numbers seem to show a pretty good connection..i download at like 200-500k/s on most sites.

im thinking its some settings in CS...such as rate and stuff but i dont know where to start..was wondering if anyone here can give me a heads up on what some settings in CS does and what could be a possible solution.

THANX..

PS- when i say lag...its like...i tap the forward button...my dude wont go forward until around 0.5-1 second later.... when i strife its not smooth...very bumpy... this is happeneing with frames maxed out at 100 constant.

Even though you ping a server well doesn't mean it's going to play well. Especially on a wireless setup where latency can be an issue.

Loss and choke, if i am not mistaken, are when packets get lost (lose information on the world wide web) and choke is a network collision (thats the part im not sure about). Collisions sometimes result in a loss of information, or just late packets, resulting in lag.
If it worked fine before, and all you did was go wireless, I think you know what the problem is. Probably isn't much that can fix it. Maybe just hardwire your CS station. =)

here are some commands you can mess with in cs or hl that could help you net settings

ex_correct "0"
ex_diminishextrap "0"
ex_maxaccel "2000"
ex_maxerrordistance "64"
ex_maxspeed "900"
ex_minvelocity "0"
ex_extrapmax "1.6"
ex_interp "0.05"
cl_pred_fraction "0.5"
cl_pred_maxtime "255"
cl_timeout "305"
cl_nopred "0"
cl_updaterate "60"
cl_lc "1"
cl_lw "1"
cl_latency -999
cl_resend "2" // default 3

These can all be messed with, try them first and see how that works. I'm on cable but i get crazy packet loss so those are what i use. you'll find them in your config.cfg file in your cs folder. open it with notepad, and paste those settings in, or edit the ones in there that are set at different values. good luck :D

wireless = bad for fps gaming
ITs called latency Every true gamer already knows this and thats why if you go into a game it would be very had to find someone goin wireless.

Latency to an 802.11b router is about 3 ms. It is a minor factor in network gaming, where typical broadband pings are about 30-40 ms (and often double or worse depending on the ISP and game server).
