So here is another Cop behaving baldy thread. Looks like the LA County Sheriff was texting while on duty and missed a curve in the road and hit and killed a cyclist in the bile lane. So far no charges by the DA and the Sheriff is still on active duty, 8-months after the accident. Looks like the original investigator from the Sheriff's department tried to sweep everything under the rug by saying nothing of interest on the Deputies personal cell phone. However another detective got a warrant and pulled the cell phone records and found that the Deputy was texting right before the accident. If this was just another motorist I suspect that the DA would have already have filled charges. We will see if anything happens on this or if the DA declines to file anything.

Must be nice to have a license to kill, surprised another detective looked into it, seems like some cops are human after all.

Lol, I'm one of those - but only because they do not follow the law for bike riding on the road - which here states they have to be on the furthest right side of the road (that means past the white line on the very edge of the pavement) but most of the time you find them directly in the driving lane on the left side of that white line... and when cars are going over a steep hill at 50 (the speed limit) and you are biking in the driving lane on the other side - well that is just stupid - and yet their family still gets mad at the person who was driving. The person riding the bike wasn't even following the GD law for riding their bikes on public roads...

A cop fell asleep at the wheel and killed two cyclists around here too. But I think he was actually convicted of manslaugther, which was somewhat refreshing.

Maybe you should petition the city to keep the right side of that white line suitable for riding. I really have a hard time excusing people in a car hitting something like that. Paying attention will solve the issue many times.

We've beaten this dead horse repeatedly. IMXP, it's arrogant motorists causing the most problems. And it's arrogant motorists who will excuse other motorists for running lights, rolling through stop signs, gunning it through intersections to make the yellow, etc...but if a biker does it? oh man, let's take him out.

That's unpossible! I was just told in another thread that cops don't have a license to kill.
