I was in Office Max, and saw the Cendyne 6x4x24 CDRW drive that has been posted around alot lately. The price was marked 99.99 and then a $30 rebate. So final cost after rebates should be
~$70 + tax. No waiting for shipment. My first deal, and I haven't seen it posted. Hope it works out to a deal for someone. I didn't buy one because I got the Yamaha 8x4x24 at teh Staples clearance, and have an Imation/Plex 8x20.

This is a good deal if you can find them in stock at your local OM, slim chance of that happening though.

Call 1-800-283-7674 give them a zip code (doesn't have to be yours) and the CenDyne's SKU # 683728000479.

Anyone received the Cendyne/Amazon.Com rebate on this writer? In checking the rebate status at TCA website, mine was denied. the reason given was that I did not submit store receipt. I submitted the receipt from Amazon.Com. Will be calling TCA about this.

By the way, my Cendyne 6x4x32(RW7063A) is now a Ricoh 8x8x32(MP7083A). Now NERO recognize the drive.

My friend bought this drive from amazon also. My computer is having a hard time recognizing it as a burner. I would like to change this drive into a ricoh and an 8x ricoh like you did. If you could give me any info on how to do this it would be great. My email address is yazyazoo@yahoo.com Thanks alot.

I haven't received mine yet, sent it out on 12/20/2000. I wouldn't have expected the rebate yet but I was concerned to find that the web site had no knowledge of me at all telling me they are claiming that they haven't received my submission yet.

Friday Morning update.

Called local Office Max's for a drive. One had one, manager said they were tagged unoperable in the computer, and that since Cendyne discontinued this drive, they replaced it with an 8x8x32 - same price, and that the SKU was the same, so the $30 rebate still applies.

Your milage may vary.Good luck.

I told them to hold it (last one) and ran down to get it. So $99 for a new in box 8x8x32x (without having to do the firmware hack) And if the rebate works another $30 bonus.

sure:

Iomega + TDK + Creative + Plextor 12x10x32 CD Recorder site

Ricoh (and CenDyne) 6x burner can be converted to 8x burner site

There you go. For future reference, these should be in the Google search engine in a couple days (they already visited the site a couple days ago); it is already in Fast Search Engine ( ww.Alltheweb.com ) -- Simple search like "Plextor Iomega" (or "plextor 12x hack") should get you my site. Google.com and Alltheweb.com are the best search engines right now; they still take 20 to 45 days to get the sites in, but that is much better than Altavista / Yahoo / AOL and the others...
