If you really get down to it, couldn't you sue for just about ANY comedy out there? Almost all of it is at somebody's expense, and those people could sue if they're sensitive enough.
Why can't people just tell them to shut up and inform them that nobody else cares?

JV and Elvis suspended indefinitely? WFNY is a mess as it is, the station doesn't need this.
Also, as a young man just entering the radio business, this sort of thing makes me wonder what kind of show I'll be able to do (if all goes according to plan) years from now.
Also, I find this is interesting because it reminds me of Russia's new law which states 50% of radio news must be positive. Such a law would clearly be considered unconstitutional here in the States, but I wonder exactly what percent of our speech is limited in other ways (over radio airwaves).

Jokes can be funny without being insulting. Brutuskend has provided examples of that on this forum.
The outrage in these threads seems to come down to the same thing. That is, people getting confused about why someone is being punished for something "minor". Making the jokes were not the major offense.... the offense was in getting enough people angry that it could cost CBS money. Not through lawsuits but lost corporate sponsorship.
No one is suing, people are protesting. It's the right of the shock jocks to say whatever they want, even if it's an offensive joke. It's also the right of the people who are offended to make it known.
CBS has decided that they don't want to piss off the Asian American demographic. If Asians didn't have any money and didn't contribute to ratings, CBS would just tell them to shut up. I'm sure that if they made a joke about pygmies instead, CBS would not so much as issue a statement to the protesting pygmies, and no one would have gotten suspended.
This is just capitalism at it's finest.
Next we will have illegal's getting people fired for calling them illegals; wait I think that has already happened, lol.
This political correctness just keeps getting more and more stupid. If you don't want to listen to the damn jokes or find them offensive, pick a different station. Sheesh... everyone thinks all of a sudden that they have a divine right not to ever be offended.

This is a case of corporate America pandering to the politically correct crowd. America itself is still a land of free speech. You can still say pretty much anything you want to say on the radio and not get dragged off to the gulag, never to be seen again. Just be prepared for your politically correct employer to fire you for it.
If you want to fight back, fight back with your dollars. Corporate America responds when the cash flow from their loyal minions diminishes.
