If you haven't heard... a coal plant in Tennessee had a bad accident a short while ago. A coal ash storage area collapsed on dec. 22nd and sent floods of coal ash into waterways and through houses. Dealing with the arsenic in the ash and the contaminated water supplies... it is a true environmental disaster.
The TVA execs are testifying in congress today. It will come out that they were aware of problems and did not spend the money to fix them... all the while getting millions in bonuses.
If you get power from TVA you will already find that your electric bill has gone up 20-40% this month. This is before you will start paying for the cleanup.
Ratepayers are on the hook for cleanup of toxic ash site.
If you are on the TVA power grid I urge you to contact your senators and representatives and tell them to get some of those bonuses back to pay for this crap!
