I'm putting together a new build and I have been reading a bunch of topics here to help me out. It will be a multi purpose build for pictures, music and to able to run next gen games like Crysis and Frontlines. Budget is $900 with shipping and Operating system. Here is what I got:

Mobo: GA DS3P
CPU: E6750
Vid Card: EVGA 9600GT
Memory: G Skill red stix 2 gb DDR2 800Mhz
PSU: Antec Earthwatts 500w
HD:Seagate 320GB
HSF: Zalman 9500
OS: Window XP home SP2
Lite on DVD burner

No real plans to OC but will do it if need be. Went with the 6750 CPU because no one has the e8400 or the Xeon 3110. Feel free to comment or make suggestions. All the posts here have been a tremendous help. I recently tried a build with the XFX 680i and had to RMA it twice to Tiger and gave up and almost went to Dell for a new computer--the HUMANITY!! That board made a better roof shingle--but I digress. Thank you in advance--JohnnyGage.

I guess I forgot to include the question.

Are there any issues regarding the memory for the mobo? Compatability probs? Is 800Mhz enough? I was originally going to use OCZ Reaper memory of the same size--would that be any better?

Also would coming down in GA model to like the DS3R or the DS3L would I be giving up anything?

Thanks

I've had problems with 680i boards and defective DIMM slots, twice as you seem to have, then my local Fry's got some 780is back in stock so I just went ahead and bought that and never looked back :p In any case when I helped friends build they never had problems with the 680i boards, I guess we're just unlucky? As for those P35 boards, they only have 1 x16 PCI-E slot so SLI/CF won't be happening, however if that's not a problem for you by no means is there anything wrong with those boards. Btw why get the E6750 instead of the E8400 + a crappy celeron to flash?

Thanks for the reply. The E8400 can't be found anywhere. I'm trying to wait, plus the fact that prices will come down on the quads also--but alas my pentium 4 3.2 Mhz and ECS board is about to die--and that is easiest way to go for me. And if the E8400 comes available I will have to go down in video card to probably the 8600 series just to adjust to budget.
