About a week ago I put up a post because I had gotten some bites on my legs while I was sleeping. They cleared up after a few days with no problem.

This morning when I woke up, I noticed that my hand was really itching on the first knuckle on my index finger. Now that it has been a few hours, it has swollen up so badly that the "valley" between my knuckles on my index and middle finger is no longer there. I have a swollen, red area about the size of a half dollar coin (maybe a little bigger), and a red, itchy line the goes all the way into the middle of my forearm (toxin from bite in my vein?)?

I'm going to re-wash all of my sheets and stuff tonight... but as long as I feel okay, should I not worry?

I'll post pics when I get home :/

Update:
So today it seems that the swelling has spread (covers about 3/4 of the top of my hand), but isn't quite as puffy.
It doesn't itch as bad as it did yesterday, but it has began to hurt some when I use my hand (brushing my teeth, typing).

By the end of last night, the itching eventually got all of the way up to my shoulder... I could see the "track mark" in my vein while it was traveling.

Is it doctor time?

Update2:
Now that I think about it, seeing a red track in my vein probably should have lead to me going strait to the doctor... but for whatever reason I wasn't very worried about it. I Googled TONS over the last 24 hours to find out any information I could related to bug bites, and all sites made it sound like I was only in actual danger if I had a few very specific symptoms.

It turned out that I didn't have a bug bite at all--I had gotten an infection on my hand from working on my car. The red line was indeed blood poisoning, but my body fought it off fairly quickly (it was gone this morning). The doctor said that blood poisoning can be very dangerous if it lingers, but my body seems to be handling it well. He checked for puss in my hand but couldn't find any--so all of these are signs that there isn't any real problem at this point.

I was prescribed some antibiotics, which he said to begin taking if the marks on my arm came back.

Knowing what I know now, I would have definitely gone to the E.R. sooner... I was just having trouble justifying doing that because i was 99% sure I had a spider bite... It honestly had never crossed my mind that something else was causing this.

Anyway, thanks for all your help guys, I do appreciate it!

Don't just wash the sheets. Check the mattress and the box spring and all that crap for a web or a nest or something.

yeah it sounds like spiders to me, no other bugs should have a bite affecting that large of an area unless you are allergic (which you very well might be given your symptoms)

In all seriousness, that looks like a spider bite.
Fleas, mosquitoes, or bedbugs wouldn't leave that much damage so soon. Bedbugs being the worst, they take a few days to look like that, unless you are allergic to insect bites, but even then, those wouldn't swell so quickly unless you are extremely allergic.
I'm allergic to insect bites, even a mosquito bite is extremely discomforting to me. After a couple of days, a mosquito bite on me will look much worse than that picture!

Yeah.
I don't have any of the "bad" symptoms I have read about online (dizziness, nausea, chills, etc), but I'm kind of worried by how large it is. The red area is about 1/4 of the entire back of my hand, and half way up to my 2nd knuckle on my index finger.

Id get a doctor to look at that just in case, thats quite a wide area to be affected. Also, problem might be in your box spring/ mattress and not in sheets.

It is a pretty large area, but I don't think I am at any serious risk unless I start getting some serious symptoms.. Is this not true? And I know that "better safe than sorry", but I think at this point I may be wasting my time.

I just took some Benadryl also... I guess I'll see what happens.

Try an antihistamine to help control the itching, some topical hydrocortizone will
help too. If still getting worse in 12hrs go to doctor.

Not sure if this is related, but I took Benadryl last night and it didn't seem to do anything.

Could be blood poisoning. It produces a red line that travels like that. If it reaches your heart/lungs, you die. No joke.

Literally identical. Going to doctor.

If you die, this should be stickied, to serve as a lesson to those who dick around with medical issues while waiting for ATOT to form a consensus on whether you should go to the doctor.
