Another black Widow spider

Found this black widow in the yard. Photographed her before moving her to a place away from housing. Third one I found this year.

In the summer time I go out after dark with a flash light and kill any that have made their home too close to my home.

black widows are nasty. they dont even make nice webs. theyre really tricky too. they hide and can slide along their webs really fast to get away from you

Me too...inside or outside...if I see them, I kill them.

We've got them by the bazillions around here. While they're not a real threat to humans, their venomous bite can be deadly to our little rat-dogs.

Holy crap think if I found a poisonous spider in my yard or anywhere near my house I'd move towns. It's one thing to be freaked out by a huge spider when it's not actually harmful, but when it can kill you within 30 seconds or w/e after being bitten, there is a good reason to actually be scared of them. Black widows are especially bad for hiding under garbage pail handles and other places you might stick your fingers and accidentally piss it off.

It's one thing to be freaked out by a huge spider when it's not actually harmful, but when it can kill you within 30 seconds or w/e after being bitten, there is a good reason to actually be scared of them. Black widows are especially bad for hiding under garbage pail handles and other places you might stick your fingers and accidentally piss it off.

they also hide in nooks and crannies. i went to get some files out of storage and there were black widows living between the file boxes, and probably in them. there isnt even anything for them to eat in a storage unit and yet there were a bunch of them look all nice and healthy

Black widows rarely cause death. I worry more about brown recluses, which are more aggressive and harder to spot.

Every month or so I go out in the back yard at night with a flashlight to find the black widows. At night, they will always be waiting somewhere in the middle of the web.

Their webs are easy to find in the day. They look like the sh!ttiest webs ever, no particular shape, but strong and effective as hail, and usually have some leaves or something blown into them.
