Another possible win for ATi

They could be getting integrated by SiS as well as having their own motherboards.
Seems like a good idea.

Are nVidia not letting other people use their integrated graphics at the moment because they're making quite a bit from it?

Currently SiS has no chipset with DirectX 8.0-class graphics and there is no information about its core-logic with DirectX 9.0-class graphics solutions.

Then what the hell is the Xabre?

As for your question I'm not sure what you mean. Why would Nvidia, who makes the NForce2 chipset, let other competing companies with other chipsets use its technology? And it isn't like Nvidia is playing Intel and being strict on who can and can't make mobos...pretty much anyone who wants to can.

So I don't necessearily see it as a "win" or "loss" for ATI. If anything it makes ATI compete with its own live of Mobos

It's a possible contract win, meaning money for them.
And what if SiS use it in AMD motherboards, then it wont compete with ATi's range.
Also, people will be buying SiS based motherboards anyway, this will just give ATi a cut from those sales.

nVidia could allow other manufacturers to possibly make motherboards using their integated graphics core technology, thus expanding a bit and bringing in more money.

Motherboard and motherboard chipset manufacturers are different people usually. EPoX make motherboards, they can use the nForce chipsets. VIA make chipsets, they can't integrate nVidias graphics core into their chipsets.

Nvidia doesn't want VIA to use its Integrated graphics because then it could take a cut out of the nforce2 sales. I see what you mean but I don't see the concept of liscening parts of a chipset. I know you have mobos that mix and match North Bridges and South Bridges but that is Usually the Motherboard maker using the different ones...not VIA asking to the MCP-T in the Kt600 or something
