Another article on Gmail

It's not like people are forced to sign up for the service. Don't like the way they run it, don't sign up.

Whos holding a gun to their heads. Gmail is going to make MS, Yahoo, and whomever else has free web based email to restructure their business model for it. Competition is a good thing.

What I was about to post. I mean, come on people. Not like you are being forced to use it.

You can't use it now, even if you wanted too, unless you signed up previously.

Still don't even know the introduction date, as it will be determined by the trial run presently being conducted.

i read somewhere that part of the issue was that gmail archived all your messages,. i.e., anything you ever sent through it will never be deleted. I think that's where the privacy concerns came in. Might think twice before signing up for something that had a lifetime archive of every message I've ever sent.

Nevertheless, critics say the free storage - roughly the equivalent of 500,000 pages - isn't worth compromising individual privacy rights.

That has to be the funniest part of the article.
If it's not worth it for the privacy issue, as said already, don't freaking use it.
