Another anecdote of the lack of character of Rudy Giulani

Rudy Giulani has many people who view him as a political opportunist with almost nothing but 9/11 to his campaign, that he explotis it horribly.

Even his supporters have reason to be concerned about stories like this:

In the past, he has made comments against the NRA. That's fine as a candidate for New York City mayor, but not for the republican presidential nomination.

So as a matter of character, does he handle it in a principled manner?

In a speech to the NRA, he explained his newly found agreement on gun rights with the NRA not as political expediency, but of all things, '9/11 changed the second amendment'.

So, he *again* exploits 9/11 for covering up for his need to flip flop on gun control.

I view this as a character issue, that makes him very undesirable for any office. He appears to have no shame.

Links to his statements that you're quoting from? I don't disbelieve it but would like to see the original text.

It does exist, saw it on Fox last night. I'll try to find a link.

But yeah, hard to believe that 9/11 changed the 2nd Amendment. I mean honestly now, the 2nd Amendment and gun control domestically was changed by 9/11? Because OBL and AQ will be more able to kill us in our homes if the American people don't have guns under the mattress?

At least he didn't say 9/11 changed his views on abortion earlier in the year.

What changed the 2nd amendment was a bid for President. When you are the mayor of a major city full of guns and death you see a side of the 2nd your gun happy go lucky country bumpkin yodeler never has to face. When the festering breeding masses of Islamic extremists overflow out of the cities and start laying their road side gun ammo bombs in the corn fields and a few millions farmers and tractors have gone up in smoke, the call will go up for more gun control, no?

Eloquent in its half-brevity.

Only a tool filled with hatred and fear would vote for this guy. He has absolutely no good qualities about him. A real 9/11 whore if ever there was one. Look at him.

His city was full of criminals and crime. He hired a lot more police and cracked down on small crimes, and kept people in jail. Gun control had nothing to do with it.

Still, he wants to take my guns away, so I'll never vote for him. Nor will the NRA support him.

In almost every thread that appears in P&N all that is required to nail it, in my opinion, is this statement:

Everything depends for you personally on whose ox got gored, but hey, one can say the same thing in many ways if the worship of brevity is not your aim.

I don't know about you, but if he's the Republican front-runner, of course the NRA will support him. The NRA is pretty much the gun centric faction of the Republican party, but it's part of the Republican party all the same. There are gun rights organizations that aren't so intensely partisan, but the NRA is not one of them. Which is sad, as one of the largest rights organizations in the United States, the NRA has a huge opportunity to affect the debate. Instead, they've latched onto Republicans=Guns in almost every case. Unless the Democrats nominate Ted Nugent, that's how it will play out this time too.

I'm assuming you're not an NRA member, because I've gotten my voting instructions for several years with directions to vote for Democrats over Republicans. The NRA has no problem supporting Democrats who are actually pro-gun. Until recently they supported Democratic presidential hopeful Bill Richardson. Then he turned against guns to garner support from moonbat Dems.
