I think the Funtwo kid is a better player, his verision sounds better to me. That's an opinion, we all have them. I'm not the guy trying to point out whos "wrong". I'm giving you my opinion, but you can't seem to live with the fact that it doesn't agree with your's. Get over it, move on. Had I any idea that it ment so much to you I wouldn't have said a word. (Though I have to admit, I don't see why it matters to you).

Why are we sitting here arguing about fatkidwhatever and JerryC?

Guess what? They both suck. There, I said it because no one else would.

Sure they are good technical guitar players and they can play the hell out of some scales, but the choice of music and composition lack any and all soul. This isn't something you'd actually listen to and relate to. It?s pointless and an attempt to show e-guitarpenis. It?s BORING.

Thin skin? You must not know the crowd in this thread.

Breathe a bit and have a drink or two. We are all in agreement you are of the right opinion, but wrong technically to who is the 'better' player. However, when all is said and done, it's what music you like that matters.

I agree JerryC did a fine job on Canon, but the lad who did the cover is a better player. Is he more creative? No. Is he a great showman? Not even maybe. But for just plain playing skill he's a lot better than JerryC.

Edit: The youtube link to Canon, over 12,000,000 views so far, the lad was also on 20/20 the other night.

How is he a LOT better than JerryC when all he did was played the EXACT notes JerryC composed and played himself with?!?

No, he's a better player because his verision was cleaner than JerryC's, he played it better. I'm sorry if that upsets you, but that's my opinion.
I'm not a fan of either one, and anything they do is not as important to me as what brand of plastic wrap I use, I just happened to comment that the kid would prolly do a better job of the tune and that offended you. Other than a blurb on youtube, and the three vids, I know nothing about either of them, a condition that I doubt will change in the future.

And after listening to both versions, I prefer JerryCs. The other kid I suppose did play it a bit cleaner, but Jerry's was dirtier and grungier, more "soulful" if you will, and just pleased my ears a bit more. The other kid was like a robot perfectly playing it, but Jerry was feeling every note.

I like JerryC's version more, and that's because he's following the music as a guide. At the begininng Jerry has a slur for the first 3 note played, but FunTwo has them seperated. There's a few other technical error's that you can hear... if you can pick them out

Sorry, but (and this is coming from a someone who was a metal head in the 80's), this guy's sound is terrible. Yes, he's very fast. So are hundreds of thousands of other guitar players.

Nick Sterling, for one, sounded better than that at age 13.

Funtwo plays it cleaner and his version of Canon rock sounds better to the normal listener, but Jerry C is a better guitarist.

Look at 2:12 on Funtwo and 2:14 on Jerry C's video. That right there is why Jerry C is the better guitarist.

I am thoroughly unimpressed by this JerryC song. What is so great about it? He isn't playing anything horribly technical. The fretboard tapping is fairly rudimentary. I find the song boring but that's just my opinion, it sounds like Satch who I also don't particularly like.

Sure he's a good guitar player, but when you compare him to those who can be considered exceptional and world class, then suddenly he isn't anything amazing.

I am not going to say JerryC is the best of any guitarist, but to say his sound is terrible it pretty moronic. However; people tend to say ALL classical sucks, ALL country sucks, ALL rap sucks, ALL metal sucks...so it's par for the course.

To not realize that different people have different opinions, such as you did, is pretty moronic. That's fine and great if you like him, and I never put you down for that, but my opinion is that he sounds terrible.

My point was that opinion is all you are throwing out there.

When you add things like "I was tagged along by my parents to 80's heavy metal concerts" and "JerryC just can't compare". You are implying more than just opinion.

Totally agree, JerryC's version has much more emotion. 'funtwo' sounds and looks like he's trying to get every single note perfect, like some sort of Midi file, heh.

This song has a definite Satriani vibe to me. I like it. Oh, and I definitely prefer JerryC's version of Canon Rock to Funtwo's... Just never got the obsession with Funtwo. JerryC's version just seemed much more aesthetically pleasing to me.
