So it would be like a cheaper 5950 Ultra but with better shader performance.

In other words, a 9800 Pro. :D

Ah, now I know its intentional. Thanks for clearing that up General. Howz it going with your new GT btw?

I am not sure what they will do to hamper performance on the LE. I dont think they will waste a full 6800 core if they go with a eight pipe version, or will it be a 12 pipe version with just less features? I have no clue. Maybe an entirely new budget core.

Sounds a lot like the X800SE. Fewer pipes than a 6800 though (so 8, most likely), and the 6800 doesn't exactly crush a 9800 Pro in everything as it is. It will be interesting what kind of clock speeds this card will be able to achieve; on paper, ATI's X800 cards run significantly faster and you'd think an 8-pipe X800SE would be able to push 100-200 Mhz more than an 8-pipe 6800SE, based on results with current X800 and 6800 cards.

We will see in due time how the actual cards perform...

You would have to re-read the two Anand articles explaining the Cine engine and how the FX line bottomed out in shader performance to get a better idea.

My GT fukin sux. 408/528 max OC. For the $300 I spent on it, its an incredible card (i'd buy this over my $450 XT in a heartbeat), but the OC just pisses me off.

Some benches I did. But I did get the compusa tap protection plan (so if it ahem "breaks", I can exchange it for a new one and I'll get an Ultra if they don't have the GT in stock).;)

It's made by PNY.

The X800SE (if it ever comes out) is slated to have an MSRP competing with the standard 6800, but it has the additional weakness of 128-bit memory. So if this "value 6800" materializes, I would hope the X800SE is faster than it if ATI wants to actually sell anything.

Dells x800SE shows it as a 256 bit part, clocked a 425MHz 128MB DDR PCIe
