Is the OmniView? SOHO a good KVM? It comes out to roughly $90 without cables, is that a good price? Just wondering because I could use this for Linux box I have running.

Enables control of up to 4 PS/2 or USB computers (or both) from one PS/2 keyboard, VGA monitor, and PS/2 mouse
Offers audio and microphone switching
Supports video resolutions up to 2048x1536@85Hz through a 400MHz bandwidth
Provides built-in cable management design
Features hot key switching and direct-port access button
Limited 5-Year Warranty
Free Technical Support

Makes me wish my 6 year old Belkin would die so I could buy a new one. I like the resolutions supported on this one and the USB, but I have not used it myself. Belkin has made reliable KVMs in my experience.

I use that KVM at work and it's worked fine. If you switch the KVM while an attached computer is in its POST, it will usually not see the mouse. I don't use the audio switching feature so I don't know how well/poorly that works.

Found it on overweight wallet forums.

$18 shipping if you buy their 1200VA Universal UPS along with other items. I would say that is pretty good. Looks like a flat rate on shipping.

Who cares man, it's $60!!!

Do you know how much it's going to cost you to replace your batts in your APC? More then 60 bucks I'll assure you that!!!

As far as not replaceable. Think Again!

INSIDE!

These are standard batts and can be gotten any alarm outlet. I bought this unit and it is great! Recomended. I bought 2 of them! I got them for 69 bucks from best buy with free shipping dunno how much shipping cost from belkin.

With a little recon work I found a UPS (F6C325-SER) for only $30 in the clearance section. This is definetly hot if you get some surge protector strips, extensions, etc. to compensate for the shipping charges.

I haven't seen any UPSs that didn't use standard Sealed Lead Acid batteries. Maybe some are harder to change than others, but they are all replacable.

My APC smart 600 which I bought for $5 because the guy that was selling it didn't know how to shut off the alarm sound, cost me $11 to replace the batteries the first time, and a couple years later I opted for the deluxe route and bought brand new batteries for about $15. I just happen to be local to a place that buys and sells quantity and gives fair prices out the back door for cash. Even a bad price for a new 12v lead acid that size is maybe $25, except from the UPS vendor of course.

OTOH there is a guy at a bunch of the So Cal swap meets selling Belkin product returns, and he gets $20 for the UPS units that look like giant power strips.

One note on KVM, figure the price WITH cables, some use special cables that have suck prices.

The APCs I've looked inside have used the same sealed-lead-acid batteries as every other UPS I've run across. Given that the two 12V 7Ah batteries in my Cyberpower 900AVR cost something like $40-$45 total to replace (tried replacing them at first with batteries out of dead APCs...that didn't last long), the only way I'd see reloading a UPS costing much more than that was if's a significantly more powerful/longer-running model.

I would consider this a hot deal except for the fact that they charge way too much for shipping! $14 for a monitor cable and a 4 port USB 2.0 drive bay.
That and most of their prices are way over inflated.

But other than that it's hot:p

anyone know if they have kvm's with dvi input for the monitors instead of analog? I don't want to sacrifice my dvi signal but I would like a KVM.
