Newest Direct3d driver on the web 0755 (10.3a is 0735). Also has the ogl4 preview & newest 2d driver. Supposedly fixes BC2 map loading lag & texture flashing. Works pretty good in combination with the April 7 application profiles.

Hey what loading lag are you referring to? I wonder if that problem you described is the same I have been experiencing with my HD5850.
For some reason, when BC2 runs in DX11, it doesn't cache the shaders. They therefore have to be compiled every time you load a map, which drastically increases load times. The fix right now is to run the game in DX9, which I won't do because I like my IQ. However, if I'm understanding Tempered81 correctly, it sounds like these might fix that caching issue you so that at least with AMD cards, you can now play in DX11 and load as quickly as people in DX9. I'll test it when I get home (about an hour from now).

Ahh I see. I have a minor issue loading into Windows that causes it to appear like a slow fade transition in Power Point. Also, Crysis has vsync issues in full-screen mode during cutscenes. Nothing to write home about really, but still a bit annoying. I have a thread on it ("Graphical issues with HD5850?"). But I imagine people will soon tire of me talking about it.

Sounds like some bad settings. I would update your application & game patches, direct x redistributabe, your operating system patches, hotfixes, service paks, windowsupdate stuff, your motherboard's chipset & component drivers, and possibly mobo bios. And lastly your vga driver software & possibly bios as well.

Making sure you have all your stuff up to date usually helps get rid of annoying things like you're describing.

I have Windows 7 64-bit. I have been keeping it up-to-date. I'll check into the DirectX Redistributable and driver updates. Thanks.

I can confirm this fixes the "DX11 slow load" issue in BC2. With my rig I now load maps in less than five seconds. Nice job AMD 🙂.

EDIT: I was reading around on other forums and it seems these have trouble down clocking the card to 2D clocks and instead throw it into "UVD" clocks. My first card will only clock down to 400/900 but my second card does completely downclock to 157/300. According to my Kill-a-Watt, my idle power draw increased ~2W, so I'm not going to lose sleep over it 😛 (the load times are more than worth it!).

Those new 2d clocks are for ULPS problems with multi-monitor flickering displays. If you had the flickering problem before, the new clocks were supposed to fix it.

@marsbound. Cool dude, hope you figure out whats wrong.

The rest of my team all have 4870s, and they never get a chance to get in the vehicles because they are gone before they get in. I will link them to this thread.

Thanks!

Edit: I should say it was not just a DX11 issue, because they all have DX10 hardware and still loaded much slower, with similar CPU/SSD specs.
