I've been trying out a new anonymous network, similar to freenet (but faster).

What's your opinion on them? Does the good effects of the anonymity (freedom of speech) outweigh the bad effects (hiding of child exploitation, terrorism, etc.)?

Freenet is a distributed content store, meaning that some of the bytes of the child porno might be stored on your computer.

I don't think I'd be okay with this one.

The network I'm trying now is an overlay on the internet, and simply packets are relayed through a random path through other computers to your computers. So the child porno is not stored on your computer, but when accessing, packets of it might flow through your node.

I think I'd be okay with this one.

edit: Freenet link http://freenet.sourceforge.net/

I'm not gonna post a link to the other one, since they are trying to keep the number of users down at the moment. I'm sure if you wanna find it googling will work.

i think you need to link us to what you're talking about, because the "freenets" i know of are not what you describe.

I don't post anything or steal anything or do anything I'd not own up to, so the freedom of speech thing is a lame excuse.
But that's just me:p

By putting yourself on the network, you help people in say, China, access politically sensitive sites, because you are providing yourself as a node.

That would be grand in theory. Realistically, I see it as a tool to exploit many more than it would help.
