Anonym.OS LiveCD

I stumbled upon this after following a few different links from different news articles. It seems interesting enough, but I'm a Unix n00b. (I know it's OpenBSD...not Unix...but command line-only stuff is all UNIX to me 😛)

What is the advantage to running this? I have two machines sitting here doing nothing that I could check it out with...but figured I'd ask around first. Here's the blurb describing it.

Anonym.OS LiveCD is a bootable live cd based on OpenBSD that provides a hardened operating environment whereby all ingress traffic is denied and all egress traffic is automatically and transparently encrypted and/or anonymized.

It lets you browse relatively anonymously. I didn't try it out, but that was probably because I could have done a good number of the changes on my home systems relatively easily.

TOR is relatively broken for what most people seem to do on the internet anyhow.

Thanks, n0cmonkey. I appreciate the honest opinion.

"Browse relatively honestly" as in better than the standard Windows IE6 behind a firewall, etc?

The interesting thing I've always found about these non-Windows type things is that while they are "Better/Safer" than Windows, they dont' let you see or take advantage of all the sites/things Windows does b/c 99% of websites are coded for IE. 🙁

What are you talking about? I haven't seen a site that didn't work in a mozilla-based browser in many years.

Well, maybe I need to check out an alternate browser then. I haven't done so in more than 3 years, at least. 😱

I haven't browsed in anything but Linux at home in probably like 5 years.
