anohter XP question

ok i know this is a stupid question... but when reformting and doing a clean install with win XP is there anything special i need to do before i activate it again... i remeber hearing somehwere not sure where that there was a limit as to how many times u could install XP from one CD before it no longer let u activate using that CD key again.... thanks for the help as i will be spending my news years day reformating most likely 🙂

oh yea anyone know a good place to get a good techy XP book.... ican't seem to find one that talks bout anything other than the basics

There is no limit. As long as you don't make any major hardware changes, you can activate it as many times as you wish...that's what a Microsoft CSR told me. Hope thish helps.

One thing to consider folks about the activation of XP. You have a reasonable amount of time after you install XP before you have to activate it, so it's a good idea to wait until you get all the bugs worked out and then run the activation program. So, if you have to reformat, install, oops, reformat, install...etc.
You can do this until the cows come home for about a month before you need to activate. Then if something else goes wrong, you will have many more opportunities to reactivate before having to do it over the phone. Something to think about.
🙂

Ya know what, jcmoran? That's some pretty good thinking. That should be something to pass on to other people, to make activation a one time thing (or something to that extent). Great thinking! 🙂
