Buy annuity only if you want to make the guy selling the annuity rich. The NY Teacher's Union just had an out of court settlement for selling annuities to the teacher.

That isn't necessarily true.

It can be true, but isn't always.

(not that an actuary would know anything about annuities , mind you)
 
My stepdad is a retired teacher who taught for about 35 years. He gets a decent check every month now for the rest of his life.

Somone said, "buy insurance for insurance"...isn't an Annuity a form of insurance though? Financial insurance?
